In 1968, one of the philanthropists of the city, known as the Henson-Suarez Enterprises donated the 60,000 square meter lot at the Arayat Boulevard of the City Government, which was intended for an educational institution. On February 29 of the same year, the Sangguniang Panglunsod held their 18th Regular Session and their priority agenda was RESOLUTUION NO. 130 which was sponsored by councilors Abad Santos, Roman, Nepomuceno, Sandico and Arcilla. This resolution was then approved by the ex-mayor Rafael del Rosario. The primary and ultimate objective of this high school is to provide secondary education to poor but deserving students coming from the different sectors of Angeles City. The City Government, together with those people who exerted efforts and time for the establishment of Angeles City High School believed that any education enterprise should produce disciplined, functional and desirable citizens of the land.
PIONEERING INSTITUTION
The initial operation of the school started on July 21, 1970 when Honorable Eugenio Suarez was the mayor of the city at the tine. Eight teachers and two hundred students pioneered the opening of the institution.
The late Eduardo Seng and Ms. Sinforosa Buan Sena
The late Mr. Eduardo Seng, Division Academic Supervisor was the concurrent principal in S.Y. 1970-71, followed by the late Ms. Sinforosa Buan, General Education Supervisor in S.Y. 1971-72. Ms. Carmen E. Castro was designated as school director and officer-in-charge in the absence of Mr. Seng and Ms. Buan. The first eight teachers as follows: Ms. Teresa Gomez, Ms. Purisima Melo, Ms. Marita Wahing, Ms. Dolores Angeles-Martinez, Ms. Edenita So, Ms. Carmen Castro, Ms. Mils Guzman, Mr. Manuel Manese. As years went by, the secondary school teachers increased from eight to sixteen and the number of the students increased from 200 to 600. The additional eight teachers were as follows: Mr. Marcelo C. Sadie, Ms. Ma. Nerlita Magallon Concepcion, Ms. Vicky Pineda, Mr. Teresito Sison, Mr. Rufo Cononizado, Ms. Elena Punzalan Bowes, Mr. Ramon Navarro and Ms. Anoniette Nuqui.

Mr. Brigido Sicat’s term
In 1972 (s.y. 1972-73), Mr. Brigido Sicat was appointed as the Secondary School Principal. During his term, the secondary school teachrs increased 16 to 25. The number of school buildings increased from 3 to 5 buildings. Almost 1/3 of the school perimeters was fenced through the help of the PTA officers. An acquisition of the jetmatic punps, one gestetner miemo machine, welders, and typewriters were also released.
Ms. Juanita C. Lachica, Ph. D. Term
In 1975, Mr. Sicat was promoted to Division Math Supervisor, Dr. Juanita C. Lachica was appointed as the school Principal. During her term, one school building with three classrooms was constructed (Room 15, 16, 17). Comfort rooms were renovated, school disciplines were improved. Enrollment was pegged at 700, where teachers remained 25, which were all the City Government could support.
THE HEADAWAY
Mr. Feliciano Cabulu, Ph. D. Term
In 1984, Dr. Lachica was promoted as Division Supervisor for the Private Schools. With the promotion, Dr. Feliciano Cabulu was appointed as the principal of the school. During his term, student’s population increased from 700 to 900. The school’s physical features were also improved. A fence maid of hollow blocks was constructed at the west perimeter of the school. Two teachers were promoted to master teachers on July 1, 1986 in the person of Ms. Carmen E. Castro and Ms. Felicidad A. Sanchez.
SECURING QUALITY EDUCATION
MR. Marcel C. Sadie’s Term
In 1986, Dr. Cabalu was promoted as Division Supervisor for Non-Formal Education. With his promotion, Mr. Marcelo C. Sadie was appointed as secondary School Principal II on September 11, 1986. During his term he targeted the following objectives,
1.) To increase the number of teachers.
2.) To increase the number of students.
3.) To increase the administrative personnel.
4.) To improve the teaching-learning situation.
5.) To improve the physical features of the school.
In the school year 1987-1988 some of these objectives were realized. Through the request prepared by Mr. Sadie, the following positions were created, one guidance councilor, one school librarian and the secondary school teachers increased from 25 to 63. Enrolment increased from 806 to 1,081 students coming from different communities. 400 students who signified willingness to study under the Educational Services Contracting Schemes (ESCS) were recommended to different schools in Angeles City. Also recommended were the honor students for four-year scholarship in tertiary level. For School Discipline is maintained with the coordination of the teachers, students and PTA Officers.
NATIONALIZED ACHS
The school was refunded by City Government and was nationalized through the issuance of Executive Oder No. 189 by the encumber President Corazon C. Aquino 1998. Today, the school is operating into two sites: the main office in Pampang and the other at the Citizenter, Pandan both in Angeles City with population getting bigger year after year. The school curricular offering is centered on the New Secondary Education Curriculum (NSEC) OF Secondary Education Development Program (SEDP). The school is also offering Special Science Classes under the Department Of Science and Technology (DOST).

On July 2006, Mr. Marcelo C. SADIE retired at Secondary School Principal III. With the retirement of Mr. Sadie, Ms. Lyn V. Lnasangan, ES- MAKABAYAN, was designated as Officer-In-Charge of ACNHS by Dr. Antonieta B. Tutuico CESO V, Schools Division Superintendent.
During the term of Mrs. Lansangan, some of the projects of Mr. Sadie were continued. One school building with ten classrooms was constructed. Students’ comfort rooms were renovated. Nepo bldg. was reconstructed into two-storey building where in the room in the first floor serve as offices of the different department and of the EMIS while rooms in the second floor function as the classrooms of the first year students. Moreover, the school’s physical features were further improved.
